Women’s March Gainesville Chapter to Join with Indivisible Gainesville to Protest “Better Care”/AHCA on June 27, 2017

Women’s March Gainesville Chapter and Indivisible; Gainesville are joining forces to protest “Better Care”/AHCA from 4:30-6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 27th at the 6000 block of Newberry Road, to highlight the way that women’s health and the health of pregnant women are being targeted; protesters are asked to dress as pregnant women.

This legislation targets women’s health care needs by:

  • Eliminating Medicaid expansion and putting 6.5 million women at risk
  • Removing requirements that insurance policies cover basic care
(people with pre-existing conditions may not be able to purchase effective plans)
  • Removing maternity care coverage from essential care
  • Ending the employer mandate to provide affordable care for full time employees
  • No longer guaranteeing basic care through insurance
  • No longer covering birth control under the no-copay option
