Democrats have been negotiating with Republicans on a bipartisan “stabilization bill” that would include a guarantee that CSR payments continue. But merely guaranteeing those payments is not enough. Ask your MoCs to ensure that the bipartisan bill continues protections for people enrolled in association health plans, that short-term plans stay truly short-term, and that CSR payments continue.

“City of Gainesville Commissioners: The Voters are Ready for This!”
Again this past Thursday, your city commissioners postponed the action of placing a referendum on the March 2018 ballot that would move our city elections from the spring to the fall federal elections cycle. This shift would save the city money and allow more people to participate in our elections. The primary reservations for the referendum were held by Commissioner Harvey Budd and Commissioner Charles Goston. Mr. Budd expressed concern that only an activist minority supports this change and that it will create more partisanship so he wants to hear more opinions; Mr. Goston expressed concern that this is an attempt to place more white officials on the commission. Indivisible Gainesville is proud to announce our partnership with Black Men United and the UF Chapter of L.A.D.I.E.S (Leadership-Advancement-Development-Involvement-Engagement-Service) as co-hosts of Backpack 2 Success on August 12th at the Faith Mission Community Center at 3701 NE 15th St. from 10am to 2pm. This event is also supported by the Alachua County Young Democrats.
Backpack 2 Success will distribute high-quality, stylish backpacks filled with school supplies to 150 children of all ages from the surrounding east Gainesville neighborhoods. Local barbers will give free haircuts to kids, just in time for back to school. Read more
