Call to Action: The DREAMers Need Our Help Now!

CALL TO ACTION: Tell Congressman Yoho to support the American Hope Act of 2017 (HR 3591) and protect DREAMers! Please contact him by calling his DC office at (202)225-5744; his Gainesville office at (352)505-0838; or email him through his website. https://yoho.house.gov/contact.

Here is the backstory: Because of Congressional unwillingness to pass an immigration plan, specifically one that contains a resolution for dealing with children (commonly referred to as DREAMers) who were brought into the United States by undocumented immigrant parents, then-President Obama issued two directives. One directive in 2012 that provided temporary protection from detainment or deportation to those children (the DACA directive) and another in 2014 that applied to undocumented parents of children born in the US (the DAPA directive). Stop Our Governor From Vetoing Florida’s 4-H Funding

Nationwide 4-H is the largest youth developmental organization with more than 6.5 million members between the ages of 15 and 18. Last year Florida’s program included more than 192,000 youth and 13,000 volunteers across the state. This year Governor Rick Scott is considering vetoing funding for this organization that teaches our children essential life skills and leads them towards education in science, engineering, and computer science. Open Letter, Congressman Yoho; from your Gainesville constituent Randon Hays

“Please look at the document in your coat pocket. First make sure it says “US Constitution.” Then go to Article One, Section Two, Clause Five and read carefully. There it cites your responsibility to initiate impeachment. This responsibility resides solely with the current House of Representatives, not former President Obama.”

Congressman Yoho,

Calls for Letter to the Editor

Each day for the past two weeks the Gainesville Sun has published a letter to the editor from one of our members. We can not thank you enough for writing and submitting letters.  Gainesville is Representative Ted Yoho’s hometown, and he is still a resident and property owner here.  Let’s keep up the hometown pressure on him!

The Town Hall brought up many issues that are critical to our Nation.  We must demand an Independent Investigation into Russian involvement in our election and collusion with Trump and top ranking officials.  The movement for Impeachment requires consistent pressure or the GOP will not act.  Furthermore, Representative Yoho has threatened healthcare, education, the environment, and so many other vital issues.

You have important thoughts on these topics.  Please use your concern to fuel your Letters to the Editor.

While writing a letter for the Gainesville Sun might seem insignificant, your letters have a large effect. The number of letters that you have written shows the paper that residents have a significant interest for topics like health care, climate change, and more, which encourages it to increase coverage of those topics. The progressive viewpoint of your letters could move the Gainesville Sun to a position further to the left. Finally, politicians track public opinion. You better believe that Rep. Yoho reads the opinion pages of the local newspaper—as does the staff of Senators Rubio and Nelson.

Please, take the time to challenge the destructive and regressive policies posed by Rep. Yoho, Senator Rubio, and the Republican administration.

Your voice matters. We stand with you.

Ten Times Yoho Bungled Bigly

Sandy Parker, an Indivisible Gainesville member was shocked by some of Rep. Ted Yoho’s statements at recent Town Halls.  So, he did some investigation and found out that there are many times when the things that Yoho has said boggles the mind.  Here are the Top Ten Ted Yoho moments.

1) Ted
floats the nutty idea that citizens should be allowed access to the same weaponry as the military to make it a fair fight when the government needs to be overthrown. Stick around for the weird lottery and poison analogy. Read more
